Hyundai launched the fourth-generation i20 in India in November and the hatchback racked up over 30,000 by mid-December. And now, the South Korean carmaker has started exporting the premium hatchback to international markets from India. The first batch of 180 units will be exported to Chile, Peru, and South Africa. India has been the prime unit for exporting i20 to international markets since 2007. In November 2020, Hyundai celebrated the milestone of exporting 5.16 lakh units of i20 hatchback from India. Hyundai's Indian manufacturing plant exports cars to 88 countries and has shipped over 30 lakh cars. The carmaker sends cars from India to countries in South America, North America, Africa, Europe, and Asia Pacific.

The new i20 is the South Korean carmaker's latest offering for the Indian market. The hatchback, in its new iteration, looks radically different from the predecessor. It is also more feature-rich than ever; as a matter of fact, it is the most feature-loaded premium hatchback in the segment with provisions like a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument panel, Bose sound system, air purifier, tyre pressure monitoring system, electric sunroof, etc.
The new Hyundai i20 is available with a choice between a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine and a 1.0-litre turbocharged powerplant. The 1.2-litre unit makes 82 bhp with 115 Nm when paired to a five-speed manual gearbox and 87 bhp with 115 Nm when coupled to IVT automatic transmission. The turbocharged engine, on the other hand, develops 119 bhp and 172 Nm. It is available with a choice between seven-speed DCT automatic transmission and iMT gearbox. There's also a 1.5-litre diesel powertrain on offer that churns 99 bhp and 240 Nm of peak torque. This engine is paired to a six-speed manual gearbox.
