Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Friday (9 July) said that the strong and diversified ties between India and Russia rely on "solid foundation of mutual trust".
Addressing a joint press-conference with India's External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar after a bilateral meeting, Sergei also emphasised that India-Russia bilateral ties "enjoy strong immunity against the international political environment".
It should be noted that EAM Jaishankar was on a three-day visit to Russia from 7 to 9 July.
"We reaffirmed that strong and diversified ties between our countries rely on a solid foundation of mutual trust and enjoy strong immunity against the international political environment" Lavrov was quoted by ANI as saying.
Meanwhile, EAM Jaishankar said that despite the fact that so many things are changing in the world both before and as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, the "time-tested and trust-based relationship" between India and Russia is very much not just in place but remains very strong and continues to grow.
Ahead of the press conference, both leaders held a meeting to review preparations for bilateral India-Russia annual summit. In the meeting, wide range of discussions took place on regional issues including Afghanistan, Iran, Syria, Libya, ASEAN and the Indo-Pacific.
