The Central Government has sponsored five growth centers in the state of Maharashtra, of which Akola Growth Centre is one of the best industrial areas in the vidarbha region.
The Centers main objective is to promote industrial growth.
Water: MIDC has constructed a 11.25 MLD capacity water supply scheme to cater to the water requirements of the Akola Industrial Area. The water is sourced from the Kanshivani pick up weir of Mahan Dam, with a storage capacity of sump 4000 cum and ESR 1000 cum. Dia of raw water rising main : 600 mm PSC Dia of pure water rising main : 600 mm PSC Current requirement of area : 2.00 MLD Balance capacity of plant : 9.25 MLD Roads:
The area is connected internally by multiple lane roads of international standards with services like storm water gutters, underground water supply etc. The width of main roads and internal road is 45 meters each. The width of some internal road is 30. All the roads are constructed using modern technologies. They are all asphalted and side gutters are provided. Connectivity: There is separate tele phone exchange near MIDC provided for the Industrial Area.
The exchange also provides ISDN connectivity. Residential Facilities: A 12 hectare residential area is planned very adjacent to the Akola Industrial Area in which plots have been carved out and plots allotted. Truck Terminus And Bus Stop: Development of truck terminus is under consideration at Akola. Electricity: MSEB has established a 132 KVA substation to meet the needs of the Industrial Area.
There are 2 incoming feeder. 4 feeders of 33 KVA and 11 feeders 11 K.V. each are available at this sub-station. Common Facility Centre: MIDC has established a common facility center having proposed housing facility of a post office, bank, dispensary etc. to facilitate industrialist's staff and workman. Police Station: Police chowky is operating in area, police staff residence is also provided near police chowky to have day and night service.
Support Facilities: MIDC has constructed its office building, housing the Division a land sub-divisional offices to look into speedy development of area and to provide customer service support. Canteen facilities: Number of restaurant such as Kranti, Geeta, Vittal canteen restaurant, etc. are established with having very fresh food snacks and hot/cold drinks available for any time.
