Akola Industrial Area established in the year 1972, is one of the oldest industrial estates of Maharashtra State.
It was set-up with the main objective being promotion of agro based industries. The objective has been achieved. The area was set-up with 21 hectares of land in 1972 (Phase-I) has now expanded itself to cover 281 hectares.
Besides this, there is a further expansion on 661 hectare. of land adjoining this industrial area.
Water: MIDC has constructed a 11.25 MLD capacity water supply scheme to cater to the water requirements of the Akola Industrial Area.
The water is sourced from the Kanshivani pick up weir of Mahan Dam, with a storage capacity of sump 4000 cum and ESR 1000 cum. Dia of raw water rising main : 600 mm PSC Dia of pure water rising main : 600 mm PSC Current requirement of area : 2.00 MLD Balance capacity of plant : 9.25 MLD
